Good and good for you, grapefruits are the fruit of reflection- well, if the way you eat a grapefruit is in any way similar to the way I eat a grapefruit...
First, I remove the peel, scrape away as much of that bitter white stuff as possible and of course tear away the skin before enjoying each succulent and sticky bite. A grapefruit is a beautiful thing- in fact it is such a joyous occassion to partake in one that to consider eating it while, say, watching TV would be to defile the grapefruit and everything it stands for...
I feel as though a sweet yet tangy grapefruit should be enjoyed over a good converstaion with friends or soaking in the first rays of springtime sun with your journal writing stories about life, love &... fruit.... But soon I realize that these wishes could never come to pass- No, my friends could never have a deep and meaningful conversation with me as I mercilessly mangled that delicate grapefruit and continue to slurp the marred pink flesh. And No, the delectably sticky juices would drip down into the pricesless pages of my journal and my sticky fingers would cling unwillingly to the paper...
No, the grapefruit must only be enjoyed in solitude, just me and my thoughts reflecting on life, the important things I've neglected because of the busy-ness. But the grapefruit! Ah the grapefruit, is the perfect opportunity! While doing the ever important task of feeding my body with nurtients essential for life, I now have the chance to feed my soul with one of the most vital tools I have for healthy living... And that is Self- Reflection.
Just me, God, and a delicious pink grapefruit.
